witness:

selections from the estate of hughie lee-smith

The exhibition and this web site are organized and curated by Nigel Freeman, advisory board member, Firehouse Gallery, and Director of African-American Fine Art, Swann Auction Galleries, New York.

The exhibition was possible through several partnerships:

THE HUGHIE LEE-SMITH ESTATE

The exhibition is indebted to Hughie Lee-Smith's widow, Patricia Lee-Smith, and her daughter Stephanie Patterson, art registrar for the estate, who continue to further the legacy of this great artist.

FIREHOUSE GALLERY

The ValleyArts Firehouse Gallery, located at 580 Forest Street in Orange, is a beautifully renovated and repurposed historic firehouse that opened in 2013 as a signature visual gallery space for ValleyArts and its artists. The gallery hosts an array of exhibitions, shows, and events throughout the year.
